Combining the ease of use and compact size of traditional data recorders such as the Sony SIR 1000 and TEAC GX-1, and the functionality and flexibility of modern data acquisition systems such as the HGL Hawk series, the HGL HDR series provides the best of both worlds in a powerful and cost-effective package.

The HDR series of machines from HGL Dynamics represent the next step in the evolution of data recording and analysis.

Traditional data recorders:

  • are relatively simplistic and require extra equipment for monitoring the signals being recorded
  • require the captured data to be taken elsewhere for replay and analysis
  • have generally provided little meta-data for traceability (such as channel parameters and calibration information). Full data acquisition systems provide this information but with more complex interfaces.

The HDR series allows you to do much much more in one portable unit:

  • monitor the input signals both graphically on the integrated display (bar graphs, FFTs, Oscilloscopes, more...) and via the hardware audio and oscilloscope capable output connections on the front panel.
  • safety monitor the input signals with visual and optional audio notification of alarms. Both broadband and frequency (fixed, tracked order, quadratic modes) safety limits are supported (please ask for details).
  • perform analysis on the machine, quite often whilst recording further data.
  • write data simultaneously to HGL format files on the local disk (and optionally to HGL Hercules format tape) and to SIR-1000 (all variants) native format tapes (requires AIT1 drive to be installed in one of the drive bays).
  • read data from all SIR-1000 variants and TEAC GX-1 tapes with full monitoring and automatic conversion to HGL native format (for archiving and access to analysis).

Multiple HDR units can be linked together allowing channel counts from 16 up to 1024+ to be achieved simply and with no degradation in bandwidth.

The HDR series are the most compact machines in their class offering world-class performance in a 3U 19" (450 mm) rack-mount package with a depth of only 12" (300 mm). The HDR series weighs less than 10 kg (22 lbs) and is therefore small enough and light enough to be considered truly portable.

The HDR series is a truly modular architecture with a wide range of models and media and conditioning options; the list below indicates the most popular options, please contact us if you have a specific requirements, we will either find a combination that will work for you - or create one that does!
